Multiple Healadins in raid
There seems to be a fascination with healing meters so I’m going to roll with it and talk a little more about you about the effect of having multiple paladins in your raid and the effect it has on your performance on the healing meters.
We all like our epeen stroked once in a while. As a holy paladin, the best way to buff up your healing meter performance is to ensure you’re the only holy paladin in the raid.
Why is this?
It is how Beacon of Light works coupled with the fact that the majority of fights the main tank is going to the most correct Beacon of Light target, even if there are multiple healadins.
It all comes down to how Beacon of Light works. When you cast your healing spell on another target, it copies to the Beacon of Light target. This will let you cast healing spells on others while keeping up your healing assignment (usually the main tank).
What does this mean?
Now if there are two healadins in a raid and you’re both assigned to beacon the main tank (which often happens) your both going to have massive amounts of healing through beacon hitting the tank. While this will increase your position on the over healing meters it creates a lot of inefficiency and will lower your performance on the healing meters.
Two healadins work best together when there are two tanks taking about the same amount of incoming damage. It then also means that three healadins need three tanks with about the same incoming damage.
The problem with that is Paladins have massive output of healing. Tanks love this since we can quite easily keep them up….. Also most raid leaders are tanks… Therefore tanks seem to like to have multiple healadins in the raid.
When there are situations where you’ve got one main tank to take care of and multiple healadins it’s often a race to see who gets the heal to land at the right time. That means it’s more luck of the draw or who can spam their healing buttons faster and more.
So what can you do about this?
First: Learn to work with and coordinate with your other paladins and healing lead.
Second: Don’t worry so much about the healing meters. Make sure the job gets done, the boss gets downed and the maximum amount of loot is gathered from bosses.
Third: If there are too many paladins in a raid to allow you to effectively coordinate, then one or more of you may have to sit out.
