Healing in 3.2: Aura Mastery
Aura Mastery is a talent point in the holy tree that does some really cool things. The biggest problem: The actual benefits of Aura Mastery is often misunderstood therefore few end up using it.
Casting Cost: Free.
Cool Down: 2 Minutes.
Aura Mastery causes concentration Aura to make all affected targets immune to Silence and Interrupt effects *AND* improve the effect of all other auras by 100%. Lasts 10 seconds.
In regards to the Auras. It only effects the base Auras, and not the talented bonus extras to the other auras.
You don't have to be the one that has Concentration Aura up. It can be coming from another Paladin in the raid/party and everyone will still get the immune to silence and interrupt effects.
Aura's Shadow Resist Aura, Fire Resist Aura and Frost Resist Aura, when active mitigate approximately 10-20% of the damage that comes from that source.
Mitigation from effects like this is capped at 75% and don't stack from other things like it.
When you use Aura Mastery, the resistance is doubled, so is the mitigation. So while Aura Mastery is active damage from that type will be reduced by approximately 20-33%.
[I would like to get someone to confirm that these approximate numbers do work like this.]
A big part of Aura Mastery is how it buffs Concentration Aura. The silence and interrupt immunity is very nice on a small variety of encounters. The big issue with it: It cannot be used to remove a silence or interrupt effect, it only prevents it if Aura Mastery is already active.
Get in there and use Aura Mastery at any time where damage comes from fire, frost or even nature if you have a nature resist aura up. Also aggressively use it when there is going to be Silence or interrupt effects.
Fun stuff: Crusader Aura Tidbit:
This spell works on Crusader Aura. While it isn't game breaking, if you're having a mount race with someone, it's very funny to use Aura Mastery (yes it works while mounted) and race off faster!
To understand more about resistances, go to wowwiki at http://www.wowwiki.com/Resistance.
It does a good job at explaining resistances but it also warns that the methods may be out of date.
A table from the Elitest Jerks web site shows a newer model that may be the up to date way that Resistance is calculated.
This method says that there's a minimum resistance depending on your resistance levels, with a chance to resist more. The amounts are for PVE bosses 3 levels higher than you are:
| Resistance | Minimum Possible Resist |
| 128 | 10% |
| 219 | 20% |
| 340 | 30% |
| 510 | 40% |
| 765 | 50% |
Testing resistances is quite difficult. A lot of the formula's out there made through educated guesses.
As I get more solid information about resistances, I will update this.
