Healing in 3.2: All you wanted to know about Divine Plea but were afraid to ask

Divine Plea is such an important spell for a Holy Paladin to use.

How it works if very simple: You gain 25% of your total mana over 15 seconds, but the amount healed by your Flash of Light, Holy Light and Holy Shock spells is reduced by 50%.

This is one of the main reasons that Intellect is our most important stat.

Due to this little puppy, for each point of intellect you get, you'll gain 4.5275 mana per minute if you use Divine Plea on each cool down.

Formula: 1 point of intellect: 15 (mana) * 1.1 (divine intellect) *1.1 (blessing of kings) *.25 (divine plea) = 4.5375 mana per minute.

It's why Talisman of Resurgence is so powerful.

While 4.5 mana per minute doesn't mean a lot, when you multiply it, it really adds up. For instance I have over 1700 intellect unbuffed without divine intellect. 1700 * 4.5375 = 7713.75 mana per minute. That's more than a mana pot every minute.

There are two main schools of thought into when you should use Divine Plea.

School 1: Use it on every available cool down.

School 2: Use it often, but not when healing is required.

Neither school is wrong. I'm in between. I use Divine Plea whenever available, unless there's a point where if I use it, it will cause my target to die. These situations happen very rarely.

I look at it like this. When casting Holy Light, we'll be doing 70-80% overhealing. A reduction of 50% really only reduces the overheals with few exceptions.

It doesn't effect spells like Judgement of Light, Sacred Shield or Lay on Hands.

Mod for Divine Plea:

There is very little use for a mod with Divine Plea.

You're better off using the macro provided below.

Divine Plea in Grid:

It's not useful to have Divine Plea set to show in Grid.

If you wish to have it, program into your "Buff" area "Divine Plea" and activate it on your grid to where you want it.

A Macro that uses Bigwigs bossmods to keep track of time left:

#showtooltip Divine Plea
/cast Divine Plea
/bwlcb 60 Divine Plea

Macro for Deadly Boss Mods:

#showtooltip Divine Plea
/cast Divine Plea
/dbm timer Divine Plea 60

Or if you don't want to put the extra strain on the mods of add a timer to your boss mod you can use the delay option in chat:

#showtooltip Beacon of Light
/cast Divine Plea
/in 58 /w [your toon name] Divine Plea available in 2 secs

or an Audio option that works perfectly on patch days:

#showtooltip Divine Plea
/cast Divine Plea
/in 60 /script PlaySoundFile("Interface\\AddOns\\theholypaladin\\divine-plea.wav")
/script UIErrorsFrame:Clear()

This is the option that I use.

Power Auras:

You can use Power Auras to keep track of when Divine Plea is available. I use audio alerts, which are painful to use on Power Auras when spells are ready. It spams you when you come out of stuns, silences or other effects like that.

I suggest that you don't use Power Auras to keep track of them it's available to be used.

Anyway, in conclusion. If you're not using this spell already, do so. It'll really make a world of difference to your Holy Paladin. If you're not using every time its available (or close to it), then you should be.
