Healing in 3.2: Holy Shock

Holy Shock is our main instant cast healing spell. It can help you get out of some tight spots, since the healing is front loaded.

Front loaded means that the healing happens when you press the button to cast the spell, unlike spells like Flash of Light or Holy Light and have a casting time and then their healing goes off.

Holy Shock's best use currently is to get yourself (and other raiders) out of a bind when they are taking some quick damage and need some time for other healers to cast their healing spells.

Holy Shock is also one of the leading healing spells for us in PVP. Since it's instant, you cannot get interrupted or counter spelled.

 

Healing Amounts:

There are 3 buff's that adjust the way that you calculate your heal strength based on your Spell Power. That is the Healing Light talent, the Divinity talent and Improved Devotion Aura / Tree of Life Aura (These don't stack).

So you can see what you can expect from your own Flash of Light's, plug in your spell power and Haste and then click on Submit.

The Soft Haste Cap:

You'll want your haste to be 676 while fully raid buffed with Judgements of the Pure active to get your Global Cool Down (what is triggered when you cast Holy Shock, even though it's cast at instance speed) casting to 1 second. Any more than 676 haste and it'll be wasted.

 

Holy Shock heal over time in Grid:

It's not that useful to have the Holy Shock heal over time set to show in Grid. This is a bonus that is given when you have 2 pieces of Tier 8 gear.

Program into your "Buff" area "Holy Mending" and activate it on your grid to where you want it.

Glyph of Holy Shock:

The Glyph of Holy Shock is not a good Glyph to use in pve since the mana to heals ratio makes this spell very inefficient, it is however, a very handy Glyph to have in pvp where you want to cast Holy Shock more.

In PVE, don't use the glyph. In PVP, use it.
