Healing in 3.2: Holy Paladin Talents updated for 3.2
There are two main talent spec choices in 3.2. Holy / Ret and Holy / Prot are the two main choices now.
.
The Holy / Ret spec: is best used to maximise your mana through a fight.
This is very much like the spec that was widely used in 3.0 and 3.1.
The 18 points in Retribution give you 8 extra crit percent.
Even though Illumination has been nerfed, you'll still get some mana returns from the extra 8% crit.

.
The Holy / Prot Spec:
For what this spec gives up in mana regaining, it makes up in raid survivability.
The whole point behind this one is to get 2 points in Divine Guardian to maximise Divine Sacrifice. While this deep into Prot, we also pick up 2 points in Improved Devotion Aura.
This spec allows us to heal a little harder and on areas where there's a lot of damage floating around, it lets us do the Bubble / Divine Sacrifice trick. If timed right on certain fights, can single handedly save an entire raid from wiping.
Which spec is best? They both are, for specific situations. If you're working on Hard mode bosses and finding a lot of people falling due to large amounts of raid damage, the Holy / Prot spec will serve you well, otherwise, the Holy /Ret spec will let you heal for longer.
It comes down to personal preference.
Some fights really do benefit from the Holy / Prot spec, especially if you're running in a raid group.
