Healing in 3.3: Ashen Verdict Rep Farming
So everyone has seen the tasty rings that you can buy with Ashen Verdict reputation? I sure hope so, it’ll let you get rings all the way up to item level 277! For rep! Not only that, you can boost your Blacksmithing with some extra patterns to make i264 gear! And what’s even better, you can farm the reputation. Here are some of the down and dirty details.
The first thing you need to know about Ashen Verdict Rep farming: It can only be done in Icecrown Citadel (ICC). Both trash and bosses give you rep.
Second thing you must realize. Rep farming is slow going, especially if you’re going to pug it.
The third thing you need to know: The better your raiders are, the faster it will be. Better skill wise and better gear.
The rep farming usually happens like this: You zone in, kill all the trash up until the first boss, zone out and reset. You don’t get saved since no bosses are downed. Rinse and repeat.
Group composition:
10 mans:
Tanks: 1 or 2 (2 is preferred, but doable with 1)
Healers: 2 Non-fail healers
DPS: 6 (It’s easy to do 5k+ dps, even with bad gear)
25 Mans:
Tanks: 2 (3 can be helpful to pull a little faster)
Healers: 4 or 5 Non-Fail healers.
DPS: 18
How much rep do you get?
10 Mans: 875 reputation
25 Mans: 1205 reputation (needs checking, but it’s close)
(Humans get more due to their racial bonus)
Healing notes:
When the small Skeletons (The Damned) die, they explode causing damage to nearby players. Stand sufficient distance and get ready to heal the melee hard, especially if multiple skeletons are about to die.
There are mobs called Deathbound Ward. They cast a spell called Disrupting Shout. If you’re casting a spell at the time theirs resolves, you will get spell locked for a while. It’s best to avoid getting spell locked. This happens in both 10 man and 25 man versions.
Speed of runs:
It all depends on the quality of who’s in the group. Quick runs go at about 20 mins per clear (I’ve heard of 15 min clears) and the slower runs bottom out at about 35 mins per run.
Obviously, the more wipes, the slower the run will be.
If it’s a pug, be ready for time for reset as people leave and leaders need to find replacements.
Suggestions and Hints:
Flasks and food are generally not needed in a reasonably geared group. It will speed up the clear somewhat.
Split it up into multiple sessions. It gets rather boring, very fast grinding all the way to exalted. This is doubly so if clears are taking 30+ minutes which often happens in pugs.
If you’re in a pug be patient. If you cannot be and the run isn’t going smoothly, just leave and look for a better run.
Watch out for the steps. Line of sight on them can be problematic. Just be aware of it. You don’t want to be out of line of sight, but you don’t want to get too close to the exploding skeletons either.
If you’re joining a pug, it’s best to ask for the loot rules up front, especially in the 25 man versions. Loot does drop on trash. There’s a much higher chance of loot dropping in 25 mans than 10 mans. In fact, I ran multiple 10 mans and never saw a single drop where in 25 mans, it seems every second run drops an epic. The items on trash are all Bind on Equip. There’s a very nice i264 Plate Belt (Belt of the Lonely Noble), some cloth shoulders (Stiffened Corpse Shoulderpads) and some mail legs (Leggings of Dubious Charms) that you may be interested in. It’d be bad for them to drop and not have the loot rules clarified.
To reset to do another rep run:
Everyone must run out. Change it to 10/25 man (which ever you’re not in) and then change it back.
If someone stays inside, you cannot reset it without kicking them from the group.
I know it shouldn’t need to be mentioned, but if you kill a boss, you cannot reset the raid.
What Rep do you need?
3000 Reputation to Friendly
6000 Reputation to Honored
12000 Reputation to Revered
21000 Reputation to Exalted
So from all the way from no rep to exalted, you’ll need 42000 reputation. It’s a lot when you’re only getting about 1000 rep at a time, but it’s worth it.
What Blacksmithing Patterns are available?
Boots:
Holy: Protectors of Life
Prot: Boots of Kingly Upheaval
Legs:
Holy: Puresteel Legplates
Prot: Pillars of Might
Ret: Legplates of Painful Death
Oh, what are the rings?
Friendly: Ashen Band of Wisdom
Honored: Ashen Band of Greater Wisdom
Revered: Ashen Band of Unmatched Wisdom
Exalted: Ashen Band of Endless Wisdom
They are really cool, and easy upgrades to get!
All in all, you can just slowly gain the rep as you do Icecrown Citadel, or speed on through and do the rep farming.
So get in there and farm that rep. Get your rings and if you choose, get the blacksmithing patterns too.
