Healing in 3.3: Emblem of Frost
With the way that the Tier gear has changed, it's become very important to collect your Emblem of Frost at every opportunity possible. Here is how...
First, lets list the way that you can get your Emblem of Frost.
- The Daily Heroic
- The Weekly Raid Quest
- 10 and 25 Raid bosses in Icecrown Citadel
- The new boss (when it is released) in VOA
The Daily Heroic:
This is one of the easiest ways to get your badges. You don't even need to pick up a quest. Open your Dungeon finder and do the Random Heroic. When you kill the final boss, you'll be granted 2 Emblems of Frost, on top of all the other loot. The Emblem of Frost only works on the first you do this for the day.
This was bugged on the first day where you could continue to do the random heroic and still get the Emblems of Frost.
Good for 14 Emblems of Frost per week. (2 per day)
The Weekly Raid:
Pick up the quest from outside Violet Hold, find out which boss you need to kill, join a raid and go and kill that boss. There are currently (and I believe it will be for some time) lots of groups just looking to kill the quest boss and disband.
You'll also get 5 Triumph badges for doing this quest too.
Good for 5 Emblems of Frost per week.
10 and 25 Raid bosses in Icecrown Citadel:
Each boss in Icecrown Citadel drops 2 badges. When writing this, only the first wing is available, so you can only do 4 bosses on 25 man and 4 bosses on 10 man.
Good for 16 badges per week (more when more wing become available).
The new boss (when it is released) in VOA:
While this is still speculation, it's pretty save to asume the new boss in VOA will also drop 2 Emblems of Frost.
Conclusion:
That makes it 35 badges currently available per week if you do everything possible to get them.
So why should I farm for these badges so hard?
First and foremost, you're not going to be able to get your Tier 10 gear unless you have these badges. There are 3 levels of tier gear. The first level requires you to buy them with badges. The second level, a token drop from the final boss in each wing PLUS the previous tier piece. The third tier needs a different token plus the tier piece from the previous level. Understand?
Unless my math is wrong, you're going to need over 400 badges to get all your tier pieces. While you're probably not going to get 5 pieces of tier gear, you're going to want to get at least 4 pieces.
Even if you don't want your tier gear, grab the badges. You can trade in a bunch of them (currently 23) for Primordial Saronite. It's selling for a bunch right now!
So don't wait, go get cracking and get your Emblems of Frost!
