First set of mods to get

We're going to look at a few mods to start with. AddonSpamFu, SnowfallKeyPress and Buggrabber.

It's going to seem wierd that these are some of the first mods to get. Just follow along with me on these and get rid of them later if you decide they're not for you.

The first thing to know about mods, every mod that you add increases the load on your computer. That's a general rule. Some mods just activate when they're needed (or clicked on) reducing their performance drain on your computer.

AddonSpamFu Mod:

Description from the Author:

AddonSpamFu is an Addon for monitoring the addoncommunication channels for guild, raid, group, bg & whispers.

Poorly written Addons often send too much unneeded messages over the wire.

AddonSpamFU helps you to find , which addons produce the most traffic and what kind of information they send.

Where to get:

While this mod isn't exactly part of a user interface, it can help you with working out what's giving you some issues in raids.

Ampere Mod:

Description from the Author:

Ampere is a small addon designed to mirror the functionality of the login screen “Addons” button in-game. It’s designed to fit inside the config GUI introduced in patch 2.4. Ampere lets you quickly enable and disable addons, reload the UI, and load LoadOnDemand addons.

SnowfallKeyPress Mod:

Description from the Author:

This addon accelerates key bindings so that they are activated by key press rather than key release. This allows you to activate your abilities faster than you could otherwise. This can really make a difference for situations where you need to react quickly, like when casting heals, when dispelling, when interrupting spells, or in PvP. In these situations, the addon can have an effect similar to reducing your network latency by 100ms. Of course, the exact impact depends entirely upon how much time you personally spend between key press and release.

This mod just improves your healer reactions. Grab it, install it. It'll do the rest for you on its own.

Buggrabber Mod:

Description from the Author:

!BugGrabber is a small addon that simply grabs all Lua errors generated by WoW and makes them available to your through the /buggrabber slash command.

Where to get:

http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/bug-grabber.aspx

This is the mod you're going to want for your user interface. A chunk of mods make errors at the wierdest times.  The last thing you want is one of these LUA errors popping up during a raid. This mod will deal with it so you can look at it later (if you really want).

Tomorrow we'll look at a couple of mods that are really important to the base of your user interface.
