Healing in 3.3: Holy / Ret Spec

After playing the Holy/Prot spec for so long, it just seems to wrong to play the Holy/Ret spec. It's a spec that works on longevity. Take a look.

There are a lot of people who look at this spec for higher heals per sec. This spec is more to do with the ability to heal for longer than for higher heals per second.

Actually, this spec is the same as the old 3.1 Holy/Ret spec. It's also a very selfish spec to play. It brings very little utility to the raid (Divine Sac/Aura Mastery) but it also helps you top the healing meters if that's your thing.

holy prot spec

There are a lot of people who move 3% crit from ret to +3% healing in the prot tree. This is a fundamental error unless you're playing a Flash of Light spec. While you'll get more healing per second from 3% heals, the mana gained from the extra 3% crit more than makes up for it. Not only that, when you're spamming holy light, you're often going to be over healing by 50-70% anyway, so the +3% heals isn't really going to contribute much.

Options: You can take 2 points fro Divinty and put 1 into Aura Mastery and 1 into Blessed hands or both straight into Blessed hands to give a little extra bit of utility.

If you don't use Lay on Hands enough or Improved Wisdom, you can move those points around too.

Have fun with this spec and I wish you all the best of luck when hard mode Icecrown Citadel comes out!
