Healing Lesson: Abilities that are not used are wasted.
I see it all the time, so many holy paladin's casting only one or two spells, claiming that they're doing all they can to avoid the dreaded wipe. The truth of the matter is: If you're not using all your abilities, you're wasting them.
For Holy Paladin's, the usual biggest offenders of these abilities are Aura Mastery, Divine Sacrifice and Righteous Fury.... but we're not limited to those abilities. I'm finding an increasing amount of Holy Paladin's failing to use simple spells like Holy Light, Sacred Shieldm Judgements of the Pure and even Beacon of Light. Some Paladin's never use Lay on Hands.
It's almost criminal.
I see it in the forums: Spec into Aura Mastery, it's over powered (OP). Some say if you don't take Beacon of Light, you fail. You know what's even more fail? If you spec into it, and never use that ability.
If you find yourself failing to use those abilities, you should not spec into them. Take something that you're going to take more advantage of.
What do I mean by this?
If you're not going to use Aura Mastery, Divine Sacrifice etc, you should take those points and spec deep into the retribution tree and get yourself the extra crit which will work much better for you as a passive ability.
Passive I mean as something that automatically happens, regardless of whether you activate it or not.
There's a lot of therory crafting out there. Choosing it is only part of being a good healer. You actually have to use it, otherwise there's no real point.
I suggest that you go through your spec and look for things that you don't currently use and get proficient and using those abilities, so when the time comes when they're needed, you're going to know what to do.
If not, ditch those unused talents and move them to a place more useful.
