Healing Lesson: Greed Costs
It's human nature to get everything we can, often as fast as we can. Most don't realize that greed has its costs.
Now, to be clear, I'm not talking about clicking on "Greed" when everyone else clicks on "Need", no I'm talking about greed when you just have to have it.... NOW!
There's a term in technology. It's called Bleeding Edge. That's the technology that's just released, often before extensive testing.
When a new expansion comes out, there's always people and guilds on the bleeding edge. People who just have to have the best as soon as it becomes available. The latest gems, enchantments, BOE drops or even reputation items.
Some people will do anything to gain an edge. Even if that edge is only slight.
It all comes at a cost, and there's occasionally things that cost a lot.... and I mean, a real lot.... and often the most expensive stuff are BOE's that drop from raid groups.
While I believe there is nothing wrong with being on the bleeding edge (I'm almost always there) I also realise that if I was to wait a little while, the cost of that bleeding edge comes way down.
The point that I'm making, if you need the latest and greatest right now since you're going to be raiding with other bleeding edge raiders, then go ahead. If your're a more social player and can afford to wait a little while, you're going to save yourself a bundle.
There is also a pretty big exception to this rule: If you buy stuff before the market has been established. This happens often with big ticket items that are in high demand. The price starts high and moves higher and even higher.
