The best Glyphs to use for a Holy Paladin
Updated for 3.1.3
June 11, 2009
The Best Major and Minor Glyphs to use for a Holy Paladin. Also includes The Complete Pally Glyph Guide. The difference between a good choice of Glyphs and a bad one is similar to the comparison of a good healadin and a bad one. If you want to heal well, you need to use the right Glyphs...
Summary For Primary Holy Light Style:
Major
[Glyph of Holy Light]
Major [Glyph of Seal of Wisdom]
Major [Glyph of Divinity]
Minor
[Glyph of the Wise]
Minor [Glyph of Lay on Hands]
Minor [Glyph of Blessing of Wisdom]
If you mainly use Holy Light as your healing spell, these are the Glyphs you'll want to use.
Summary for Toolbox Healing Style:
Major
[Glyph of Holy Light]
Major [Glyph of Seal of Light]
Major [Glyph of Flash of Light]
Minor
[Glyph of the Wise]
Minor [Glyph of Lay on Hands]
Minor [Glyph of Blessing of Wisdom]
If you mainly use Flash of Light & Beacon of Light to heal, then these are the Glyphs you'll want to use.
Glyph rule: You cannot equip 2 of the same Glyphs. They do not stack.
Glyph of Holy Light
This is probably the best Holy Paladin Glyph to get. When you cast a Holy Light, you heal up to an additional 5 targets for 10% of the heal. This adds up to good value.
You will never be one of the 5 additional targets healed.
Overheals will trigger this Glyph. Eg. a 10k over heal will trigger to do up to 5 x 1k trigger heals.
The target healed does not have to be part of your group for the Glyph to trigger and can trigger onto others who are not in your group.
The Glyph triggers cannot crit.
The Glyph trigger is not a smart heal. This means that it could heal someone with damage or someone without damage. It will send it to the best targets, but rather it will choose random targets instead.

Glyph of Seal of Wisdom
This is also an exceptional Glyph to use, depending on certain circumstances. In the Primary Holy Light Healing Style, this Glyph is very important. If you’re having mana issues, this Glyph is also the best way to alleviate some of the problem.
There is some debate to whether its better to reduce the cost of your healing spells or increase their healing power. While it depends on your healing style, the fact that Holy Paladin's tend to over heal for 60-70%, the extra spell power tends to be wasted where the 5% discount is usually more worthwhile.
If you’re never having issues with mana, this Glyph will have little use to you. If you are having mana issues or pretty much only cast Holy Light, this Glyph is a must.
What makes this Glyph a powerhouse is how it combines with Illumination. Where Illumination refunds you based on the full mana cost, even though you got it at a discount.
Something to keep in mind, the 5% discount is actually worth more than a free Holy Light one in twenty casts when you take Illumination into account.

Glyph of Seal of Light
This Glyph is the alternate to the [Glyph of Seal of Wisdom]. If the amount of healing is important to you, look no further, especially if you’re not having any mana issues.
This Glyph is also a good idea if you're undergeared and need to push a little more out in heroics or early raids.
When combined with Beacon of Light, and other healing increasing effects, you bring your high end healing to the table.
The biggest problem with this Glyph. Holy Paladins already over heal for lots, so this may only succeed in increasing your over heal amount.

PVP: 8/10
Glyph of Divinity
This is most helpful Glyph if you find yourself running low on mana. Lay on Hands yourself and you receive twice the mana back. So if you’re running out of mana, get it, and Lay on Hands yourself. You’ll get about a mana pot worth from it.
Note: Even if the target doesn’t gain mana, for example if you Lay on Hands on a Warrior, you will still get mana back from this Glyph.

Glyph of Flash of Light
This Glyph is awesome. 5% crit to Flash of Light spells. This will not only increase your healing performance, but increase your mana returns. If you're finding you're casting Flash of Light the most, this is your best bet.

PVP: 5/10
Glyph of Cleansing
Horrible in Raids, but half decent for PVP.
Raiding: 2/10
PVP: 5/10
Glyph of Beacon of Light
This Glyph is pretty bad. Increasing the duraction of Beacon of Light by 30 seconds does not warrant the use of this Glyph when there are so many better options.
Raiding: 2/10
PVP: 4/10
Glyph of Divine Plea
This is a very good Glyph for Tanks. Bad for Holy.
Raiding: 0/10
PVP: 0/10
Glyph of Divine Storm
Glyph for the Ret Paladins.
Raiding: 0/10
PVP: 0/10
Glyph of Holy Shock
Reduces the cooldown of Holy Shock by 1 second means this Glyph is very important for PVP where movement is important and we are vulnerable to counterspell. Don't use it in PVE.
Raiding: 3/10
PVP: 9/10
Glyph of Salvation
For Ret Paladins to consider. Bad for Holy in PVE. Although I wouldn't recommend it, you could try it in PVP to reduce burst damage on yourself.
Raiding: 0/10
PVP: 4/10
Glyph of Spiritual Attunement
[Glyph of Spiritual Attunement]
Many people rave over this Glyph. It makes me want to cry. With the options available to us for Glyphs, this is not viable, even if you’re running low on mana all the time. If you were a tank, this would be good, but you’re a healer. Don’t get it.
Raiding: 2/10
PVP: 1/10
Glyph of Hammer of Justice
Its use it fairly decent for PVP, but has little use in Raids.
Raiding: 0/10
PVP: 7/10
Glyph of Judgement
This Glyph, while decent for questing or leveling, will do very little for you as a raider. In PVP Holy Paladins do very little damage with Judgements, so you’ll find better options elsewhere. If you're Ret, you'll want this.

PVP: 1/10
Glyph of Righteous Defense
This Glyph is for tanks to consider, not you.
Raiding: 0/10

Glyph of Consecration
A Glyph for Ret and Protection Paladins to consider.

Glyph of Crusader Strike
Holy Paladin’s, step away from this Glyph. Don’t look back!

Pretty bad.

Glyph of Seal of Command
For the Retribution Paladins.
Raiding: 0/10
PVP: 0/10
Glyph of Turn Evil
This has some use, compared to those last few Glyphs. In raiding, this has limited use, however in PVP, this Glyph really shines. Use it on Felhunters or on Death Knights and their pets.
Raiding: 1/10
PVP: 9/10
Glyph of Hammer of Wrath
Purely for PVP. Its also very good in PVP.
Raiding: 0/10
PVP: 8/10
Glyph of Avenger's Shield
For tanks only.

PVP: 0/10
Glyph of Seal of Blood
Not used by Holy.
Raiding: 0/10
PVP: 0/10
Glyph of Seal of Righteousness
[Glyph of Seal of Righteousness]
This is a bad Glyph, full stop. It’ll even make the Retribution Paladin’s cry.
Raiding: 0/10
PVP: 0/10
Glyph of Seal of Vengeance
Glyph for the tanks.
Raiding: 0/10
PVP: 0/10
Glyph of Avenging Wrath
Half decent in PVP, but poor in Raids.
Raiding: 0/10
PVP: 5/10
MINOR GLYPHS:
Glyph of the Wise
This combines well with [Glyph of Seal of Wisdom], so much to the point, that it’s a must have. If you don’t use [Glyph of Seal of Wisdom], its still a fine choice to get if you’re ever in a pinch.
Raiding: 10/10
PVP: 3/10
Glyph of Lay on Hands
There are very few useful Minor Glyphs around for a Holy Paladin. This one is quite decent. Not useful in Arena since you cannot use Lay on hands. Good in Battlegrounds.
Raiding: 9/10
PVP: 4/10
Glyph of Blessing of Kings
This Glyph is bad. I mean bad. It's rare that you cast Blessing of Kings during combat (Yes, it does happen after a Battle Res), however, its benefit isn’t that great.
Raiding: 4/10
PVP: 4/10
Glyph of Blessing of Might
This is ordinary at best. If you’re going to get it, it’ll be for dailies or questing.
Raiding: 1/10
PVP: 1/10
Glyph of Blessing of Wisdom
A VERY good Minor Glyph to get if you're going to do raids where Blessings are coordinated and there is only 2 Paladins present. It makes the Top 3 when you're raiding.
Raiding: 8/10
PVP: 1/10
Glyph of Sense Undead
This is probably going to be useful to you if you do Dailies or solo quest etc. They’re mainly used for Protection or Retribution Paladins, but since there are very few decent Glyphs, this one isn’t that bad a choice, especially if you don’t have Kings. A little better in pvp against Warlock pets.
Raiding: 5/10
PVP: 6/10
