Questions & Feedback #32:

The feedback and questions have been coming hard and fast lately. I love it. Keep it all coming. Every Friday we're going to post Questions and Feedback!

Feedback: A bis guide would be great. Any way you could separate it into different tiers? Also, I've used rawr a little bit and configuring the options is a tad confusing. Don't know if you're a fan or not, but I'm definitely interested in seeing how you would set it up.

[Further explanation] There's a standalone application that will pull your current gear, talents, and professions from armory called rawr. It's like a megaspreadsheet in paper doll format. It'll rate upgrades, talents, gemming, etc. The trick to it is that there are certain parameters you have to set in the program according to the way you heal, and even though I have a solid grasp on how I heal, it's still a little confusing. If you haven't heard of it, I seriously suggest checking it out. http://rawr.codeplex.com/

Response: I guess you mean how to set up Rawr.

I haven't used it so I haven't set it up. I have heard about it and so far I haven't heard good things. How I'd change it depends on the encounter as each encounter has little quirks that change how formula's work.

The thing about Holy Paladins is depends on how you play more than anything.

Feedback
: Eclipses which of us does not like to lie on a sandy ground, where you go around the beautiful ladies dressed in bikini and the ditch-water is clear as crystal. I confidence that it resolution be as euphonious seeking me to guy on this forum.

Response: So much spam….. please stop that and the viagra. Stop! Ooh, beautiful ladies you say?  Tell me more… Oooh no, wait. Stop, no spam!

Feedback: Haven't read it yet.
RE: http://www.theholypaladin.com/healing-in-3.3-grid-setting-it-up-part-1.php

Response: umm, yeah ok.

It seems they got me in a mood today ;)

Feedback: This is feedback to "What do you want covered now".

BiS List would be awsome. The one on maxdps.com focuses on mp5 n stuff (i like haste and critt gear better).

Also some tacts on how to best counter some bosses in LK HC would be nice. Any tips for a lonly paladin just trying to start out ICC10man HC:s. Done loothisp (duuuuh, easymode) but still some issues with both Rotface and Festergut atm (how do i heal 5ppl at once :S)...

Anyone, I like your site and I feel this IS the place where paladins go to learn heal :D

Feedback: Best in slot guide is a very good idea. But the downside about a best in slot guide is that it mostly only focuses on 25man HC while some people/guilds will never get that far. So if possible it might be nice to create a best in slot guide for not HC as well?
Just my 2 cents.

Response: Possible, but the main issue I’d have. It’s not a BIS list is it’s not best in slot? It’s an idea though.

Further Feedback: True, but then again it is a best in slot for that difficulty level... Depends how you look at "best" in slot...
I mean for example best in slot Libram will probably always be Libram of Renewal and that's a iLevel 200.

Feedback: I enjoy reading ure site and have learned so much.
I only registered a few months back but i have read almost every article and i love your enthusiasm.

The only thing which i would find usefull is arena related stuff. I'm thinking of playing 2vs2 with a ret pally from my guild. I see a few benefits (2xhammer, 2 diff auras, judgements, 2x bubble, aura mastery etc)
However, the only stuff i can find about a teamup of 2 pally's is pretty negative. I don't really see why coz i think, with good teamwork and good macro's, it could be a winner. Specially considering plate armor and healing pottential even from the ret pally.

I'd like to hear your comments and comments from other pally's about this.

So if you're up for it, post something about arena's and holy pala's.

Response: (To Everyone else). Anyone else have any tips for arena? My experience is virtually zero.

Feedback: Do you turn with n52te joystick? If so, is it like (as slow as) keyboard turning? If you do mouse turning, doesn't that still mean you can't cast spells on people when raid movement requires you to turn since you will be using the mouse to turn and not mouseover?

Response: While you can set it up to be able to turn on the n52te, I haven’t set it up that way. It is a small weakness in the interface for sure, but I’ve found that it’s better to be prepared and orient yourself correctly in response for upcoming abilities than to have to turn and move after it has hit you.

A long time ago (early in BS), when I moved I used to turn and move to get out of fire or avoid other things. When content and groups were weaker this was fine, but in the more competitive groups and harder content you’re going to rely upon sidestep and forward. I spent a lot of time drumming it into myself to get out of the habit of turning and moving and just be prepared and sidestep to avoid bad things. While it doesn’t work 100% of the time, I can live with the 2% of the times where it doesn’t quite work as well.

Now to turn, I use my mouse. Hold down right click on the screen and turn.

If you want to know, there are 2 ways to set it up to turn with the n52te that I worked out.

Method one: On the thumb, you have forward, back, left and right. You also have combinations where for instance forward and right is pressed at the same time by pressing in the diagonal direction. You can set that diagonal button push to go forward and turn if you want. I get mine to sidestep and go forward.

Method two: This requires a little more work. Set up your little finger to press an alt, shift or ctrl key. Then set up in your user interface that (whatever you choose it, we’ll say you set it up with alt) that when you press alt and strafe you turn instead.

Either of these two methods lets you turn and still be able to use mouseover keys. If I was to use one of the methods, I’d use the second. It’s a little harder to get used to but the benefits are higher in the end.

If I were to do everything correctly, I’d be using method two.

Feedback: Love how you had to put a SS up of you being #1 in healing...way to toot your own horn!

Response: You know I didn’t even notice. I’m either top or bottom of the meters. It was just that fight that I remembered that I needed to take a screenshot. This encounter had been hammering us on hard mode and we recently only got it down. The other healers haven’t quite got the hang of it so my healing had less over heals and more heals hit. It was just RNG. When the other healers get used to it, I’ll get knocked down on the totem pole, I’m sure.

Epilogue:

Keep the feedback and questions coming. Believe it or not, it makes me go out and research some things. Sometimes the results surprise me and we'll all learn something new together!

Be sure to send them in, if you're asking the question, others are going to be asking too.
